Member School  //  Winchester-Thurston School

Founded in 1887, Winchester Thurston School is a college preparatory, coeducational independent school. The school maintains its roots as a progressive school whose lifeblood is innovative teaching, an active and challenging learning environment, and a community in which every member is encouraged to participate fully and to develop as ethical, intellectual, engaged citizens.

City Campus (PK-12, in Shadyside)

Located within walking distance of some of the world's most important centers of research, technology, culture, arts, and medicine including Carnegie Mellon, Pitt, UPMC, Hillman Cancer Center, and more, the City Campus offers WT students the benefits of a small school environment with unparalleled opportunities for intellectual engagement with the dynamic urban laboratory that surrounds it.

Through the nationally recognized initiative, City as Our Campus, innovative teachers develop unique learning partnerships that extend their student-centered classrooms into the community, in a continuum of exposure that develops important 21st century skills and dispositions. Inquiry based interdisciplinary learning, rigorous research projects, arts immersion, and community service enrich a challenging college preparatory program.

North Hills Campus (PK-5, Allison Park)

Designed to provide a unique, nurturing, child-centered learning environment, the North Hills Campus is scaled to the growing minds, hearts, and bodies of young learners in its facilities and its programs.

The natural setting provides a place of imagination and wonder as well as a dynamic laboratory for experiential and interdisciplinary learning in science and mathematics, social studies and language arts, and the fine arts. The school's award winning buildings are situated on seven acres of rolling farmland that feature a spring-fed pond, woodlands, rustic gardens, fields, and a natural playground built by the faculty, parents, and students.
